The idea of this tournament belongs to Mr. Serguei Kozlov, Dina's president. In 1999 he was the General Manager of the Russian national team that won the first UEFA Futsal Championship in Granada (Spain). So Chekhov Cup was dedicated to the fifth anniversary of that glorious victory. The Football Union of Russia patronized it. At the same time the Administration of Chekhov Region as well as the Russian Futsal Association helped to organize the competition.

Four teams took part in the tournament – Dina Moscow, Kickers Charleroi Belgium, Tilburg Netherlands and National team of Russia (under 21). Four matches were held: two semifinals, 3rd place match and final. Dina Moscow had two victories over their guests and became the winner of Chekhov Cup. At last we add this competition took place in Chekhov, a small Russian town near Moscow at Olimpyisky Indoor Stadium.

COMMENTARIES OF PARTICIPANTS:

Victor Vladuschenkov (Dina Head Coach):

- No doubt, to win this cup was our main aim. Besides that Dina wanted to congratulate its president, Mr. S. Kozlov, with his birthday (it was on February, 27). So I am happy twice because my players managed to do both things. I guess the play of Kickers should be highly estimated. Our guests played very fast and technically well. I remember other Belgian teams including the national one. It is difficult to compare them but I am sure they are really different. Kickers international players from South America impressed me greatly. They helped our guys to present a wonderful show to spectators.

Marcos Braga (Kickers Charleroi Head Coach):

- We reached a good result. I am aware how it is hard to beat Dina especially on its ground. I can recall our voyage here. It took us 15 hours. However we have got nothing against Chekhov Cup organizers. They did their best to take us to Russia. Conditions of the tournament meet any demands. So we are glad to be to Chekhov town. We would like to come here once again. My people got real practice so we are ready to contest Kickers Charleroi in Belgian Division 1.

Alexander Rimko (U-21 Russia Head Coach):

- Our team has existed for four months. It was founded in October last year. This is its second international competition. The first one was held in Saint Petersburg. Unfortunately we could not rely upon two key-players – Paramonov and Fukin. I always said that there would be a time for original or professional Futsal players. Our first generation left soccer to play Futsal. My guys started their careers on a small pitch. We meet each other rather often. Russian Futsal Association pays much attention to future stars of national Futsal. I believe in our country there are much more talented players than we can see now. Our target is to look for them and take to real Futsal world.

Marcel Loosveld (Tilburg Head Coach):

- Under other circumstances we would play much better. But to go one day long means something terrible. I understand Russian players are professional ones. My people are amateurs. My point of view is as follows – Tilburg was not ready to fight for this cup. The opponents taught us a good lesson. But we had great honor to play against Dina. It was rather useful to us. So we thank our Russian colleagues for this tournament.
