Vital Football/York CityYork City Futsal v Tranmere Rovers FutsalThey've been the dominant force all season and York City Futsal have the opportunity of clinching the National League North Division Two title against their only remaining challengers Tranmere Rovers at the University of York Sports Centre on Sunday afternoon (kick-off 2.30pm).
The Minstermen have proved themselves totally unstoppable at the top of the table with an incredible ten successive victories under the inspirational leadership of head coach Junior Roberti.
That followed the experienced Brazilian tactician who brought up a century of career games in charge earlier in the campaign, also leading them to the league title last term, although on that occasion only by a single-point from valiant runners-up Derby.
However, a glorious promotion to the Super League was subsequently denied to the University of York side, and hence their summer link up with York City FC. Since then the rebranded club has never been defeated.
Runaway leaders York approach their latest challenge having thrashed Liverpool 6-1 last weekend, with skipper Daniel Pedras bagging a hat-trick alongside further goals from Fabinho Almeida, Joe Iggulden and Ewan Minter.
They also crucially won a tight affair 5-3 at Tranmere back in October courtesy of England international Robbie Bettson's treble and Miguel De Vicente and Almeida adding to it.
Nine-goal Bettson returns to the squad this weekend after being unavailable against the Merseysiders due to his international commitments.
Rovers are currently second in the table and a full nine points behind their hosts having already played a game more, but will nonetheless be very keen hold onto the runners-up spot with Derby still in hot pursuit.
The Birkenhead outfit accounted for Loughborough 7-5 in their latest fixture after Ed Bryers, Jose Angel Pena Farina and Daniel Read each recorded doubles and Lucas Gomez Meier brought up a magnificent seven.
But they've already suffered four defeats during the current campaign, with the most recent of those being by a resounding 13-2 margin at top-three rivals Derby back in November.
