From playing in his backyard with his dad to being selected for Australia, Oakhurst’s Zac Harang has had a quick rise to the top.

The 10-year-old was chosen for the Australian 11 years futsal tour of Hawaii in November after his performance at the National Futsal Championships.

Following his NSW Metro side’s second place finish in the competition, Zac said he was proud to be selected for Australia.

“I’m looking forward to playing the games, hanging out with my teammates and sightseeing,” he said.

“I’ve always wanted to go to Hawaii.”

Zac’s stocks are also rising in traditional soccer as part of the Sydney United 58 club.

After he started playing soccer at five with Plumpton-Oakhurst before moving to Werrington to play with his best friend, Zac tried out for Sydney United and has played the past three seasons in the club’s skills acquisition program.

The talented centre-back said his dad Danny inspired him to take up soccer and they started playing together since he started walking.

Mr Harang has played soccer since he was young and said he was pleased that Zac loved the game from the beginning.

“Making it to NSW then Australia, that’s the highest you can go,” he said.

“Both of us are really proud of his achievement. My soccer career didn’t go that well but for him to represent his country is the dream.”

To help make Zac’s dream come true of representing Australia, the family has set up a GoFundMe campaign for the Hawaiian futsal tour at: www.gofundme.com/39ex0rc
