The University of Guam men’s and women’s soccer teams hosted the first Co-Ed Futsal Tournament at Calvo Field House spanning four days, Jan. 14, 15, 21 and 22.

Rod Hidalgo, head coach for UOG's soccer teams, said that it was a team building project for the squads, as well as a fundraiser. With 14 teams entered, Hidalgo said more than 200 people were involved, mostly on the playing floor. He said it featured many different teams from across the Guam soccer community.

Emerging as the winner of the tournament was Bash Squad, followed by the Goal Getterz and in third, NextGen.

"It went very well. I asked the teams that were there what they thought and they said they enjoyed it," he said. "They were all asking when's the next one."

Hidalgo said the teams are already planning on making the next one better and said he expects them to step it up. He has been coaching the teams since July 2016.

The UOG men's and women's soccer teams thanked the establishments who donated to their event, including Shamrocks, Slingshot, Jamaican Grill, Good Vibez, Nova, UOG’s Marketing Department, IT Department and Professional & International Program (PIP), Guam Football Association and Father Duenas Memorial School.

Bash Squad took first place in the tournament. Team members comprised April Talledo, John Reyes, Jonathan Romero, Ashton Surber, Jason Cunliffe, Thomas Law, Marcus Lopez and Ricky Katsumata.

The Goal Getterz placed second in the tournament. Team members included Alexis Aguon, Rodney Camacho, RJ Salas, Gideon Tyquiengco, Paige Surber, Keith Surber, Gerrard Aguon and Seth Surber.

The NexGens placed third. Team members included Colleen Naden, Sean Evans, Shawn Sablan, Jordan Jasmin, Devan Mendiola, Inochi Recella, Noah Duenas and Skyylerblu Johnson.
