Vital Football - York CityYork City Futsal 5 Manchester Futsal Academy 0York City Futsal moved eight points clear at the top of National League North Division Two with an eighth successive victory against Manchester Futsal Academy at the University of York Sports Centre.
Recent hat-trick hero James Briars and Miguel De Vicente both scored during the opening half, and Fabinho Almeida, Joe Iggulden and Jamie Bettson added further goals in an absolutely resounding 5-0 triumph.
De Vicente had an early speculative attempt clear the target but it was York's Philip Codd the first goalkeeper called into action before Briars was denied at the other end.
However, Briars soon added to his recent treble when producing the opening goal of the contest, and De Vicente then doubled the lead with a shot inside the near post.
Jamie Bettson was next thwarted by the opposition keeper and both Connor Watson and Luiz Rodriguez saw further opportunities. The visitors replied by chipping beyond the oncoming Codd but also over the target.
Goalscorer De Vicente in turn struck against an upright after a free-kick was awarded, and Jamie Bettson couldn't take full advantage of a defensive slip.
But unbeaten York immediately forged into a three-goal lead right at the start of the second-half courtesy of a wonderful strike from Almeida.
Jamie Bettson and Fabinho Almeida were both on target for the runaway leadersKeen for his second of the afternoon, De Vicente also drove at the Manchester keeper, who then produced a brilliant save from Watson's volley before the former cleared the target from distance.
The visitors soon wasted a decent opportunity of their own at the other end, and they were to concede again with Iggulden collecting a loose pass and instinctively registering his first goal for the club.
The Minstermen are now eight points clear and on course for another titleJamie Bettson then ran onto a through ball to make it five for the runaway leaders - and Jack Overton volleyed inches wide before Codd twice preserved his valued clean-sheet with decent saves.
And there was still enough time remaining for Overton to once again go close, this time with an audacious back-heel, before York welcomed influential skipper Daniel Pedras back from injury as a late substitute.
