Vital Football/York CityYork City Futsal v Loughborough Academy FutsalChampions York City Futsal would move six points clear should they record a seventh successive victory when entertaining Loughborough Academy at the University of York Sports Centre on Sunday afternoon (kick-off 2.30pm).
A strong second-half performance following a tight scoreless opening period eventually realised a 4-1 victory against Nottingham Trent in their opening home game of the season last weekend.
That was despite the National League North Division Two pacesetters being without the services of their influential captain Daniel Pedras and eight-goal leading marksman Robbie Bettson.
However, in their absences acting skipper Miguel De Vicente scored twice to increase his own individual contribution to eight goals this term while Jamie Bettson and Dylan McAvoy were similarly on target.
Champions York City Futsal are now clear leaders of the table
In-form York already triumphed 6-3 at Loughborough only last month with goals from Jamie Bettson (2), Robbie Bettson (2) and McAvoy (2), but should once again be tested by a young and spirited team showing four victories from their opening six matches.
The Midlands' club previously accounted for recently deposed leaders Tranmere Rovers (H 10-4), Nottingham (H 7-4), Manchester Academy (A 3-2) and Liverpool (H 5-3), with an 11-6 reversal at Durham being their only other defeat.
With no other league fixtures set for this weekend, it's an ideal opportunity for the Minstermen to put clear ground between themselves and the rest of the division, particularly with another home game scheduled against Manchester just seven days later.
