Goals galore in new Futsal Club UK league

November 24, 2016

Futsal Club UK have held the opening two rounds of fixtures in their new Youth Futsal League.

The league began on November 12, and saw clubs from Bishop's Stortford, Harlow, Saffron Walden and Ware all competing against each other.

The league got off to a flying start, with 48 goals scored in the opening three games, followed by 54 in four games the following week.

Co-organiser Gavin Earle said: "The atmosphere was brilliant for all the players and spectators, and provided a superb and entertaining afternoon.

"One parent commented 'I don't understand why all kids don't play futsal, it's amazing!'

"The league has four age groups: U10, U12, U14 and U16s, and all teams are made up from children in the club.

"The aim in setting up this futsal league is to give every child the opportunity to play the sport with a regular fixture programme, as well as their weekly futsal sessions. In setting it up we have created a fun and safe environment.

"The children are given the freedom to play without the fear of making mistakes. They can be creative and can express themselves freely.

"Futsal is a fast-paced, five-a-side indoor football sport that is played all over the world.

"Most of the world's greatest football players, such as Messi, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Zidane, Pele, Maradona and Xavi all name futsal as the sport that has made them become the world's best players."

Games are played every Saturday afternoon and hosted by Bishop's Stortford Futsal Club at Birchwood High School, Bishop's Stortford.
