Crofton UtukanaTHE national U12 and U14 futsal squads are in “full swing mode” in their trainings in preparations for the 2017 FFA National Futsal Championships to be held in Sydney, Australia, in early January.
Michael Bate’e told Star Sports last night that the boys are currently training under the watchful eyes of our national heroes the Kurukuru players.
“We’ve been training for about a month now at the netball court behind Multipurpose Hall,’’ Bate’e said.
“We’ve train from Monday to Saturday starting at 3pm to 5 pm,’’ he said.
Bate’e stressed so far the training has been very encouraging with the level of commitment demonstrated by the young players.
He said despite the squads have new faces they are confident that our boys will maintain their level of performance in the competition.
“We’ve only have three old player for the U12 and two for the U14 squad.’’
“The rest of the players featured in our U12 and U14 last year were not eligible to join the teams this round due to over age.’’
Solomon Islands since joining the competition has proved to be a team to watch in the competition.
Our U12 are the current champions of their category while the U14 were unfortunate to make it to the grand final after bowed out at the semi-final stage in their category in this year’s competition.
Meanwhile, Bate’e said the 2017 FFA National Futsal Championships will kick off from January 5th to 8th in Sydney.
