Kicking out racism – Freestyle footballer and international coach join forces with Letchworth-based Khalsa Futsal Academy for Football People week

23 October 2016

A freestyle football maestro and an international futsal coach have stood shoulder to shoulder with Khalsa Futsal Academy during Football Against Racism in Europe’s Football People week – which ended on Thursday.

The KFA kicked off the campaign at the national football centre St George’s Park, and head coach Bal Singh has been joined by Spanish coach Daniel Berdejo and Football Freestyle champion Abbas Farid for a series of workshops and panna knockout contests.

Abbas gave a live showcase at Fearnhill Sports Centre on Saturday last week.

Bal said: “I am delighted. Our goal was to highlight the ignorant mindset that still exists in parts of society.”

Daniel added: “The KFA run by Bal and Kevin Ramasamy is an awesome setup, where very talented players show amazing attitude and willingness to learn.

“The project enabled me to provide an opportunity for Futsal players who want to develop Futsal skills who don’t often get the opportunity.”

Abbas said: “What can be done to stop Racism is the question that still needs to be answered.

“Projects like the KFA and FARE are an excellent platform to showcase pro-active attitudes.”
