York City Futsal's thrilling weekend victory at FA National Futsal Super League Division Two joint-leaders Tranmere Rovers was sufficient to take them back to the top of the table.
The highly-rated visitors actually found themselves trailing with just six minutes of the contest remaining, but England international Robbie Bettson's hat-trick and further strikes from Miguel De Vicente and Fabinho Almeida eventually proved enough.
It means the current champions have won all three opening games despite not yet having played at home. York are next scheduled to be in action when travelling for another big top-of-the-table clash to Loughborough Academy on 13th November.
Tranmere manager Damon Shaw had earlier told Rovers' official YouTube channel: "University of York's been around a few seasons and the coach [Junior Roberti] has been there quite a while now and it's a good set-up and good structure.
"They shouldn't be in this division but they didn't get accepted into the Super League a few years ago - and they are. And now York City have got involved with the club and they're backing it, much like Tranmere backing their Futsal team."
Elsewhere at the weekend, Durham swapped places with Liverpool in the table after a slender 7-6 victory at the same Prenton Park venue.
Both James Fairley and Connor Towes claimed hat-tricks for the visitors and Adam Barr was similarly on target, while the Merseysiders' Dimitrios Charlaftis struck twice alongside Thomas Bateman, Matthew Best and Neil Weaver.
Champions York City Futsal are back on top of FA National Futsal Super League Division Two following their dramatic weekend 5-3 victory at Tranmere Rovers.
Despite being without skipper and leading goalscorer Daniel Pedras, York went in front through England international Robbie Bettson's smart finish.
However, Joe Saunders equalised before the break and Jose Angel Pena then fired the home side - already with three victories from their opening four games - into the lead.
City's unbeaten start to the campaign appeared under real threat as they still found themselves in arrears with only six minutes remaining.
But stand-in captain Miguel De Vicente suddenly drove in an unstoppable free-kick to level and Fabinho Almeida then turned home his low cross at the far post to move them back ahead.
Robbie Bettson soon added his second of the afternoon with a wonderfully executed goal, although Rovers' Oscar Fernandez netted on the rebound to make it 3-4.
The Minstermen made sure though when Robbie Bettson completed his hat-trick after taking advantage of the hosts employing a 'fly' goalkeeper in the closing moments.
