Andrew McMurtryThe Futsalroos had a second half to forget against world champions Brazil at the Futsal World Cup in Colombia.
After a 3-2 win over Mozambique on Monday morning, the Australian’s had high hopes of staying with Brazil.
However the world’s number one ranked team showed their class, running away with a seven-goal second half to record an 11-1 win over Australia.
Australia were down 4-1 at the break but the world’s number one ranked team showed a ruthless streak to score seven unanswered goals in the second half.
In the early stages, the Futsalroos stayed with the South Americans when Australian captain and Hills Brumbies star Greg Giovenali cancelled out an early lead against the run of play when he found a gap through Brazillian goalkeeper Tiago’s legs.
Brazil soon showed why they are defending champions with a ruthless display, outshooting Australia 103-27.
The loss does not wipe Australia out of contention for the knockout stage but it requires a win over Ukraine on Sunday morning at 7am AEST.
