Dave JonesClub enters young squad into FAW Elite LeagueWrexham-based Brickfield Futsal Club have taken their first steps towards what they hope will be a high-level success.
This season will see the club’s Director of Futsal Robert Tudor enter Brickfield into the relatively new FAW Futsal Elite League.
The league was launched at the Vale of Glamorgan Hotel near Cardiff in October 2013. It started out with a octet of clubs which were split into two regional conferences of four teams.
Led by their new manager Andrew Ruscoe, Brickie will face off against some of the best futsal teams that Wales has to offer. One opponent will be two-time FAW Welsh Futsal Cup Champions and UEFA Futsal entrants Wrexham Glyndwr.
Brickfield have already made a bold statement by signing Saint Vincent and The Grenadines international Brad Miguel, who has recently returned to the Brickfield brand after spending his summer holidays back in his hometown of London.
Brickfield Futsal is another extension to the Brickfield Rangers brand, where the club is trying to create a multi-sport outfit within the town of Wrexham so that everyone can feel connected.
Futsal director Tudor said: “Exciting times are ahead for our club as we have progressed quite rapidly within two years from where we started and we have now entered a Nnw Futsal Elite side so that we can further develop our club structure and create further footballing opportunities to the people of the Wrexham community.
“This season will see the start of our three-year plan which will begin with a relatively young squad so that we can implement a playing philosophy of ball retention play so that we can embed into the futsal world without any serious issues.
“This season we will be sponsored by Stephen Jones’ A & A Domestics who have kindly bought us a new Futsal kit and we thank him for this commitment.
"Our long term objective that our three-year plan is aiming for is to establish ourselves as a competitive Futsal outfit where we will be challenging the top end of the table teams, but as we realise this is our first season and we know there is plenty of work to be done, hence why we have gone with a young squad to hopefully develop and have many years of success with.”
