City Futsal sign another England international

Ambitious FA National Futsal Super League Northern Division Two club York City Futsal have signed England international Robbie Bettson.

Head coach Junior Roberti was delighted with the addition of the ex-Middlesbrough skipper: "I think Robbie is one of the best English players we have playing now in UK," he enthused. "I am very pleased to work with him."

Only last week the Brazilian brought in former England captain Ben Mortlock to work alongside him as assistant coach.

He was joined at the University of York Sports Centre by England Under-19 international Dylan McAvoy, expected to prove another key recruit ahead of the season's opener at Manchester Futsal Club Academy this weekend. Kick-off is 5.30pm on Saturday at Trafford Park.

Current champions York had been due to visit Nottingham Futsal Club seven days earlier but the game was postponed.

A couple of fixtures were completed, however, with Durham accounting for Manchester 8-4 and Tranmere Rovers edging past Derby 7-6.
