Brunei football association (NFABD) has appointed the 49-years old Turkish coach Mehmet Fatih Kale as Futsal National Team head coach.

With a population of just over 400 thousand people, and no Futsal tradition, Brunei is a minnow compared to some of the sides they will be facing in the upcoming AFF Futsal Championships (click here for more details) in Bangkok.

Former Chinese Taipei women’s national team coach Kale has the job of rebuilding a team in a limited time, and is aware of the task in hand: “At AFF Futsal Championships we are in the same group with World Cup contenders Thailand and Vietnam, who are at a very different level than us. My first objective will be to mold the current crop of players in to a team , so that Brunei can at least put out a respectable performance as a well organized Futsal team.”

Brunei was drawn in group A, together with Thailand, Vietnam and East Timor.
