Sunday, August 28, 2016

FIJI Football Association has admitted to an administrative blunder in allowing a Futsal player to play for Lami in a Vodafone Senior League match against Nasinu.

The match ended in a 2-2 draw which saw Lami qualifying as the champion from the Southern Zone.

Lami fielded Manjit Lal, who Nasinu claimed was ineligible to play because he had been playing Futsal, was not supposed to play 11-a-side football.

"The protest had been disallowed.

"It was an administrative blunder from the Fiji Football Association from the competition department," Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel said.

"We own the onus of that. It was our blunder. The decision remains the same."

Patel said Tavua had won a protest they lodged against Vatukoula.

Meanwhile, more international matches were being lined up for Fiji in the Oceania and Asian region.
