Fixtures Announced For Central American Futsal Tournament

The complete fixture of matches has been announced this week for the UNCAF (Union Centroamericana de Fútbol) Futsal Tournament that will take place at the Domo Polideportivo in Ciudad de Guatemala, Guatemala from 27 – 31 January.

The event is the Central American preliminary qualifying tournament that will advance three teams to the 2016 CONCACAF Futsal Championship in May.

Group A is composed of Honduras, Nicaragua and the hosts, Guatemala, while Panamá, El Salvador and Belize are in Group B.

After the first round, the top two teams from each group will process to the semifinals on 30 Jan., with the winners not only playing for the UNCAF title the next day but also advancing to the CONCACAF Tournament. The last Central American representative to the CONCACAF event will be determined from the winner of the third-place match prior to the UNCAF Final.

Central American representatives will be joined by two teams from the Caribbean Football Union Qualifying Tournament in Cuba; Mexico; playoff winner between Canada-USA; and hosts Costa Rica in region’s Final Round Futsal Tournament in May. The CONCACAF event will double as the region’s qualifier for the 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Colombia.
