The sales launch event took place at the Serbian Football Association (FSS) stand at the City Fair in Belgrade where the municipal secretary for sports and youth Slavko Gak, Serbian national futsal coach Aca Kovačević, tournament director Zdravko Jokić and FSS grassroots director Igor Janković spoke about the 12-team tournament, which they hope will break the aggregate attendance record of around 95,000.
Their press conference was followed by a VIP v media futsal match featuring musician Mark Djurovski – son of former Crvena zvezda and Partizan player Milko Djurovski – two-time European motorsport champion Dusan Borković and freestyler Nikola Tomašević Djota. Players from the Serbian national men's and women's futsal squads also were present along with boys and girls from the UEFA grassroots project 'My school – my club' plus celebrated YouTuber, Bogdan Lalović, aka SerbianGamesBL.
Slavko Gak:
"This is a great honour and responsibility for us – I believe we will show everyone we can be excellent hosts. We have the opportunity to watch the 12 best teams in Europe and we expect thousands of fans from Serbia and abroad. The aim of all of us is that Belgrade sends the best possible image to the world. Sport is our best brand, and we have so often proved to be successful organisers of major sporting events. I would like to take this opportunity to invite our citizens to support our athletes and enjoy this sport."
Aca Kovačević:
"We want to do everything in our power to improve our best result in the European Championship, which so far has been the quarter-finals. We need just a small step to do so, and I am confident that with help from the stands we will be able to achieve great results."
Zdravko Jokić:
"Belgrade and Serbia have proven to be excellent hosts. Together with UEFA, a superb organisation that takes care of even the smallest details, a true spectacle is guaranteed. Pictures from the Arena will go to every continent and I am absolutely confident the championship will be the best possible promotion of sport, Belgrade and Serbia."
Igor Janković:
"Children are an inseparable part of futsal and they represents its primary base. Therefore, before UEFA Futsal EURO, the FSS and UEFA have prepared a series of activities involving primary-school pupils from numerous schools across Belgrade, Nis, Kragujevac, Novi Sad and elsewhere, organising the schools tournaments alongside the finals to be held on 10 February in the Arena. There will be more than a thousand children. The basic idea is to promote futsal, fair play, mutual respect and gender equality and to create educational programmes with an emphasis on sustainability and environmental awareness."
