AGLA Prepares For The New Italian Futsal SeasonThe Italian Futsal League has officially announced the start of the 2015/2016 Championship. AGLA is the technical sponsor and official partner of the league. The agreement covers clothing, footwear, accessories and balls.
September 18th is the starting date for Serie A where Pescara are the current Italian Champions. Thirteen teams will participate in the league. The last team in the final standings will be demoted to Serie A2 alongside the loser of the playoff between the 11th and 12th finishing teams.
Serie A2 will begin Saturday 3rd October. It will consist of 24 teams, divided into two groups of 12. The teams that will be promoted to the top division will be the outright winner and the winner of the playoffs. The teams relegated to Serie B will be the last team in each group and the two clubs that lose the playoffs. The structure of the playoffs for promotion and relegation will be announced in due course.
Serie B will begin Saturday 3rd October (with the exception of Group G which starts a week after). There are 82 teams registered, divided into 7 groups (each group will have 12 teams except Group G with 10 teams). The winners of the groups will be promoted to Serie A2. There will also be a playoff that will offer further opportunities for promotion. The number of teams to be relegated to regional championships is yet to be decided and will be released subsequently.
October 4th will see the start of the Women’s Serie A Elite. The first phases consists of two groups of eight teams and will be completed by 31st January. The top four teams in each group will advance to the GOLD Phase. The bottom four will go SILVER Phase where they will play each other once. There are two teams relegated from the Serie A SILVER phase.
The Women’s Serie A will consist of three groups; A and C (which begin Sunday 4th October) are formed of eleven teams, and B (which will start a week later on Sunday 11th Oct) which will have ten teams. From the Women’s Serie A there will be a total of 6 teams promoted to Women’s Serie A Elite, while three will be relegated to the regional championships.
