Atletico Navalcarnero were crowned champions of the
Women’s World Futsal Cup with a 3-0 victory over Benfica. The Spanish side were just too strong for their Portuguese neighbours and lifted the trophy in front of the fans at the Palacio Multiusos in Guadalajara, Spain.
Over 3 days 6 teams had battled it out with a high level on futsal on display throughout, highlighting the talent in women’s futsal. The teams from USA and Australia failed to win any games but will take home invaluable experience that will benefit them in the future.
Atletico have won the domestic treble for two years running and feature several international players. They remained undefeated in the competition with Benfica led by legendary player Rita Martins unable to overcome them in the final.
It was the first edition of the Women’s World Futsal Cup, which also featured a mini-tournament for youth teams. Next year’s edition will be expanded to allow adult and youth teams worldwide to participate in this international event and play against teams from a diverse range of countries.
The competition is organised by USAFutsal, a company that aims to provide unique experiences for teams across the world to compete in an elite futsal environment while providing trips to important cultural, sporting and touristic sites. Any teams wishing to register their interest for this event or the male equivalent that will take place in Barcelona in December 2015 should visit
