UEFA Course for Futsal Coach Educators

UEFA hosted a 4 day course for futsal coach educators from across Europe between 1-4 June 2015 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The event provided theoretical and practical futsal sessions, delivered by the continent's leading coaches, for the 49 participants from 10 different UEFA Football Associations who were in attendance.

Coach education has been identified as one of the key areas for developing the sport in the continent. By utilising the expertise from more established futsal nations, UEFA hopes to improve the level of coaching in developing futsal regions such as the United Kingdom and Scandanavia.

Topics covered by the UEFA experts included tactical, strategic, technical, fitness, goalkeeping and training methods. The presenters were of the highest calibre with José Venancio Lopez (Spain), Javier Lozano Cid (Spain), Jorge Braz (Portugal), Roberto Menichelli (Italy), Miæo Martiæ (Croatia), César Arcones de la Calle (Spain), Antonio Bores Cerezal (Spain) and Óscar Callejo Mardomingo (Spain) all sharing their outstanding wealth of knowledge and experience for the benefit of their audience.

The course was well received by the participants who found the organisation by UEFA and the Northern Ireland FA to be excellent. They will now return to their respective associations and implement what they learned into their own futsal education courses, improving coaching standards thoroughout the region and leaving a long lasting impact on this rapidly developing game.
