I feel if coaches in the UK and developing countries shared even a part of this experience they would be playing and coaching Futsal in a totally different way," said Richie Horlock to Futsal Focusby
Stephen McGettiganFrom the 25th to the 29th August interested coaches have a wonderful opportunity to visit a beautiful country and to attend a free futsal coaching course at the coastal city of Zadar in Croatia. The course is being led by experienced futsal coaches such as, Scottish Futsal player Richie Horlock, Finland’s National Futsal team Head Coach Mico Martic (Both Mico and Richie were previously with MNK Alumnus in Croatia) and Matija Dulvat (One of the club founders of Futsal Dinamo).
However, there will also be guest coaches and specialists for fitness training and goalkeeper training. The course is being held during an inaugural tournament that has been organized for the past three years.
The competition hosts top clubs and international teams who compete in senior and youth sections. The course is being organized during this period so that coaches can learn and watch Futsal at a high level and in many cases see the theory they learn being put into practice.
Richie told Futsal Focus that “this course is for coaches to learn specific knowledge to aid their teams rather than us providing them with a “textbook guide” to Futsal.” “The course can be for anyone involved with a club involved in their national league or at a youth level even national team coaches.
It is obvious that most of the developing nations in futsal even at an international level still have a lack of in depth knowledge of Futsal. Not only in terms of technical and tactical disciplines but also when it comes to the nature of the sport.
As a futsal coach you are more active in the game and must be technically and tactically astute with regards to player changes, time outs, set pieces etc.
On our course there will be an element delivered to cover these game situations and coach thinking.”
“I put this idea across to Mico and Matija as I am eager to develop coaches like they have developed me for over a year now in Croatia.
I feel if coaches in the UK and developing countries shared even a part of this experience they would be playing and coaching Futsal in a totally different way.”
“The only cost for participating coaches is 50 Euro per night for their hostel and all meals. Coaches can decide which day they arrive due to flights as long as they arrive on time to take part on the course.”
