The FIFA Quality Programme has invited manufacturers of sports floors and test institutes involved in the testing of such surfaces to discuss the establishment of a standard specifically for futsal surfaces.
The dual aim of this project is to better define the requirements for the elite level in order to specify surfaces that suit the players best but also to create minimum requirements for the development of futsal worldwide.
The standard that is to be drafted on the basis of existing norms will look to add requirements that are of particular importance to the game of futsal at its various levels: safety, performance and durability.
