Moura: “An honour for Sporting”

Sporting’s Director for non-Football Sports, Vicente Moura, was understandably pleased with the announcement of his club’s hosting of the UEFA Futsal Cup Final Four this Monday.
“I am really satisfied. This is an honour for Sporting and for our futsal department. They put together a well-balanced dossier for this project and UEFA knowing that Sporting is capable of organising these competitions influenced the UEFA Committee”, opened the Alvalade Director.

While Sporting will be pushed on by a packed out MEO Arena, Vicente Moura stopped short of labelling his club as favourites to lift the trophy: “There are stronger teams than us, but we will fight as if we were favourites. We will do our best to get as far as we can. It isn’t going to be easy and we will have some great teams against us, some of which have already won this competition. However, we have a good team that is well managed, so anything is possible.”

Vicente Moura finished by considering UEFA’s decision as recognition of the hard work being put in at Alvalade, going on to affirm that the entire country will be behind Sporting come kick-off: “We will focus on organising this event over the coming three months. We know very well how to put together things like this. I am feeling calm and I am sure that we will go everything we can with the conviction that miracles can happen. This is a European competition and Portugal, together, should support us.”
