By Doug Reed @DougReedFutsalBrazil has released their squad for the upcoming
2014 Grand Prix. The big news is that Falcao and Neto, who both played starring roles in the 2012 World Cup victory, return to the squad. Head coach Serginho Schiochet has selected winger Pepita for the first time after his impressive form in Liga Futsal for Jaragua where he has 15 goals.
In the eight editions of the Grand Prix tournament they have only lost once when Spain were the champions, the only occasion the latter have participated. Brazil comes back off a disappointing 3rd place finish at the Futsal Continental Cup in Kuwait where they mainly used players playing outside of Brazil.
The 2014 Grand Prix will take place between 12-16 November in São Bernardo do Campo with, alongside the hosts, the participating teams including Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Iran and Vietnam. This year’s Grand Prix, often referred to as the Mini World Cup, will be smaller than previous years due to the noticeable absence of European nations. Most games will be shown on Brazilian channel SportTV
