Four more teams play their way into last 16 of Soccer AM Futsal Cup

Futsal Cup: Grimsby, Cardiff, Leeds and Port Vale progress

Grimsby Town, Cardiff City, Leeds United and Port Vale all booked their places in the Last 16 of the Soccer AM Futsal Cup powered by NCS as Groups 5 and 6 were played out at the Birmingham Arena.

Grimsby set the tone for a dominant day's action in Group 5 with a 6-0 win over top seeds Cardiff in their opening game, while further wins over Exeter City and Brighton ensured a safe passage through to the Last 16 for the Mariners.

Cardiff recovered from their early setback to take the second qualifying spot with maximum points from their remaining fixtures.

Grimsby will now face Crystal Palace in the next round, while Cardiff are paired against Portsmouth.

In Group 6, Leeds United also started with a 6-0 win against Port Vale and sealed top spot with further wins over Wolves and Bristol City.

The battle for the other qualifying spot went right down to the wire with a valiant second half performance against Wolves taking Port Vale through on goal difference ahead of Bristol City.

Leeds will now meet West Bromwich Albion in the next round while Port Vale take on Swindon Town.

The Soccer AM Futsal Cup powered by NCS is comprised of student-players participating in The Football League Trust Education & Futsal programme.

The programme provides 16-18 year olds with the chance to score both on and off the pitch, as they study towards a BTEC Diploma in Sport with their local professional club's community scheme.

Graduates of the programme often progress to University, overseas football scholarships and careers within the vibrant sports industry.

Football lovers moving into sixth-form education are encouraged to apply, as places start to fill up for next season at over 50 clubs across the country.

NCS is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity open to all 15 to 17 year olds across England.
