Radio Cadena AgramonteCuban Futsal Team Sets for Bronze Dominican Republic Grand PrixHavana, Cuba, Feb 4.- The Cuban Futsal team did not meet expectations and finished third in the Grand Prix recently completed at Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center in the capital of the Dominican Republic.
This event, of only two days, enlisted four teams. On day one, the experienced Cuban squad, which has participated in four World Cups, was beaten 7-4 by Guatemala.
Thus, the pupils of Coach Clemente Reinoso had to settle with fighting for the bronze medals against the weak squad of Haiti, which had previously lost to the hosts, to whom they defeated 3-1.
The final goal average of the Cuban team was of 7-8 and Ronald Egozcue, Renier Socarrás and Jhonnet Martinez scored twice each while the other goal came from Brende Suarez.
Guatemala won the title undefeated.
Undoubtedly, a detailed analysis by Cuban Futsal technicians is required as the World Cup qualifying tournament will take place this year.(ACN)
