Venancio Lopez, Head Coach of Spain, has announced his squad for the two upcoming away friendlies against Slovenia. These friendlies will be part of the final preparations for Futsal Euro 2014 to held in Belgium in January and February.

The same names will likely form the squad that will aim to retain the title they won in Zagreb, Croatia in 2012. However Lopez prefers to take 3 goalkeepers as precaution and so it is expected that one outfield player will miss out.

The squad sees the return of key player Sergio Lozano. The winger has just recovered from an injury sustained whilst playing for Barcelona against El Pozo at the end of October. He is joined by three of his club colleagues. However it is El Pozo who have the most players in the squad with five representatives from the Murcian club.

Jesus Herrerro of Inter Movistar is likely to take the 3rd goalkeeper position in Belgium as he was in the last squad. Barcelona's Cristian has been a regular but recently suffered an injury and will be unable to participate. His team-mate, Paco Sedano, has probably been the in-form Spanish goalkeeper for the last year but has continued to be overlooked.

As Spain's new generation emerge there are several influential players that were part of the winning side last time that will be missing due to international retirement. These include Alemao as well as Luis Amado & Kike, two players that have played a huge part in Spain's success over the last decade. Futsal Euro 2014 will answer the question of whether Spain can remain as Europe's number 1 national team.
