Baku Utd PressBaku continued their excellent run of form with a near perfect performance against West London at home, wining 17-0. The game was expected to be a close affair with West London being in 4th position before the game and the league’s 2nd highest scoring team behind Baku.
Baku started the game with a high intensity that gave little opportunity to their opponents. It wasn’t long before they opened the scoring and it was Marcelo that gave them the lead with a well worked goal finished at the back post.
The 2nd goal for the home side followed shortly as they continued to press and looked to extend their lead. West London were looking to take advantage of quick counter attacks but an excellent defensive display by the league leaders meant these were quickly shut down and Baku’s goal was rarely threatened throughout the contest.
By half-time the lead had grown to 8-0 and the game was effectively over. However, Baku was not satisfied to see the game out and went in search of more goals, reaching an impressive total of 17 at the final whistle.
The goals were shared among Baku’s squad with several featuring excellent passing moves before some clinical finishing. The pick of the goals were a team move where all the players on court circulated the ball rapidly in 1 and 2 touches that was finished by Arnaldo, and a spectacular over the shoulder volley scored by Doug Reed after being set up by Marcelo.
Baku will now travel to West London this Sunday for the return fixture. West London will have to alter their game plan to try to cause problems for the league leaders, who will be looking to go into the Christmas break with a 100% record.
