The-AFC.comThai futsal aims to achieve higher achievements as the nation receives a team from the AFC Futsal Development Programme on an assessment visit to the Asian futsal powerhouse and dominating force in the ASEAN region.
The Thais set a new milestone in their game when Chonburi Bluewave lifted the AFC Futsal Club Championship trophy in Nagoya, Japan, this year by pulling a stunning 4-1 penalty shootout win over 2012 champions Sanaye Giti Pasand of Iran.
The AFC team was welcomed by General Secretary of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) Ong-Arj Kosinkar.
“I would like to express our warmest welcome to the AFC delegation and we wish this assessment visit will be fruitful and leave positive outcomes for the development of futsal in Thailand,” he said.
Thanking the FAT for receiving the team, Director of AFC Futsal and Beach Soccer Development Ali Targholizade addressed the importance of the role of Thailand in Asian futsal.
“Thailand is always one of the big names appearing when talking about Asian futsal,” he said. “Futsal in Thailand has a long history and you have already hosted various international futsal events including the FIFA Futsal World Cup last year.
“Carrying the message of the AFC President to develop Asian futsal further, our objective here is to help the Thai game improve by gathering facts and information of your activities.”
Also present in the meeting were officials from FAT competitions, futsal and referees departments as well as representatives from clubs and the media.
