Globo licenses Futsal to ESPN

ESPN International has signed an exclusive agreement with Globo for the 2013 Grand Prix Futsal, organized by the Brazilian Futsal Confederation. The competition, released to the international market during SPORTEL Monaco 2013, gives fans of the sport the chance to follow one of the biggest futsal tournaments in the world. Under the agreement with Globo, ESPN International will carry nine games, including classifiers, semifinals, and final on ESPNPlay.com, the brand's broadband network in Spanish-speaking Latin America and the Caribbean. The final will also air on ESPN3 across Spanish-speaking Latin America.

The Grand Prix has been held annually since 2005, except for years when there is the Futsal World Cup. It is always hosted in Brazil, and in 2013 it brings together 8 of the best teams participating in the Futsal World Cup. This year, the selections are: Brazil, Iran, Argentina, Japan, Russia, Serbia, Paraguay, and Guatemala. This year's edition will be held in Maring , Paran , located in the south of Brazil, from the 22nd to the 27th of October. The event will feature players who are recognized worldwide for their talent, such as Falc o from Brazil, who is the highest-scoring athlete in the competition, with a total of 26 goals, and who has won the award for most goals in 3 editions.

With plenty of goals, the Futsal games always have incredible, highly skillful plays. In Brazil, it has helped bring to light players who are now recognized internationally, such as Ronaldo, Ronaldinho Ga cho, Robinho, Neymar, and Alex. The Brazilian team is also the team that has won the most world titles in the sport, being Five-Time World Champion. In addition to Falc o, the main players on the field for the Brazilian futsal team in 2013 are Fernandinho (Dinamo Russia), Serginho (Benfica Portugal), and Bateria (Inter Movistar Spain).
