Why has Chelsea's Samuel Eto'o struck a deal with a Paris club?

Fret not, new Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o wants nothing to do with PSG for how, but is becoming a figurehead for a Futsal side instead.

Samuel Eto'o is a busy man at the moment. The striker has just sealed a switch from Anzhi Machachkala to Chelsea, leaving the club which made him the most highest paid footballer in the world.

He has been on international duty this week, where he picked up a knock in Cameroon's win over Libya, and then reports appeared that he was quitting playing for the Indomitable Lions altogether.

Now another report has surfaced, that Eto'o is to become a representative for a France based footballing side.

But Chelsea fans should not be worried, for his involvement is not with a 'football' club, but a 'Futsal' club.

In France the sport, a variation on football played on smaller pitches usually indoors with just five players, is being taken increasingly seriously.

French newspaper Le Parisien report that Eto'o has agreed to sign up as a 'luxury sponsor' of Sporting Club Paris, France's most successful Futsal club.

Eto'o is scheduled to meet and greet the players, and have a ceremonial part in the club kicking off the 2013/14 season.

The paper state that Eto'o's involvement has come about via a mutual friend Alexandre Ribero, a former player of the club and current sponsor.

Eto'o's role as a luxury sponsor essentially means promoting the club and helping it grow it's brand by being connected with it. All of which makes his move from Eastern to Western Europe particularly handy, as he is now just a short train ride away being based in London.

At present he is not putting any of his money up, but should he decide to offer a small amount, we are sure given the astronomical figures he earned in Russia that he could afford it.
