“They’re gone,” said Tamayo, referring to both teams of football and Futsal which wanted to send their men and women’s team.
“Cojuangco and Richie are really pushing for a small delegation. We’re now in the process of scrutinizing the list and include only those who are really worthy of going to Myanmar.”

Edward Gastanes, the general-secretary of the PFF, said that all four teams of the Under-23, the Women’s Football team and also the men and women’s Futsal squads have been hard at work and deserved to be included in the biennial championship
“Our under-23 is fairly strong, it is stronger than the team two years ago. We have at least seven Azkals national team players and we have good additions. We even formed the nucleus of the team earlier than usual, six months before competition which gives them enough time to prepare,” said Gastanes.
“The women’s team made a good showing in the Asian Cup qualifiers, losing only to Thailand in a very close game, 0-1, and beating Iran, a strong women’s team, 6-0. They are ranked 76th in the world now and 34th in Asia.
