Press TVIran futsal team trounces Iraq 12-3 in Asia tournamentNational Iranian men’s futsal team has recorded another striking victory this time against Iraq at the group stage of the 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in South Korea.
Iranians crushed the Iraqi squad 12-3 in a match played at the Songdo Global University Campus Gymnasium in South Korea’s northwestern city of Incheon on Friday.
Iran’s Ali Asghar Hassanzadeh opened the scoring only ten minutes into the match. A few moments later, Iraqi player Ali Jabbar Abed seized a perfect chance to draw the match.
Hassanzadeh doubled Iran’s lead in the 12th minute, and Vahid Shafiei scored the third goal for Iran in the 16th minute. Shortly afterwards, Shafiei seized another golden opportunity and put the ball into the back of the net to make it four for Iran.
Seyyed Ali Kiaei scoreed Iran’s fifth goal in the 21st minute. Mohammad Taheri, Hossein Tayyebi, Alireza Vafaei, and Qodrat Bahadori scored Iran’s other goals in the 24th, 26th, 28th, 30th, 31st, 34th and 39th minutes.
Waleed Khalid Fahem al-Mayali scored two goals for Iraq -- one in the 26th minute and another in the 38th minute.
National Iranian men’s futsal team is in Group D along with Iraq and the United Arab Emirates.
Earlier in the day, national Iranian women’s futsal team defeated Hong Kong 5-0 in a match played at Incheon’s Songdo Global University Campus Gymnasium.
Nasimeh Sadat Gholami, Sepideh Zarrin-Rad, Niloufar Ardalani, Paria Norouzi- Motlagh and Soheila Molmoli-Tarazeh scored Iran’s goals in the 3rd, 15th, 19th, 24th and 33rd minutes.
National Iranian women’s futsal team is in Group A together with Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.

VietNamNet BridgeVietnam draws with Lebanon at Asian Futsal ChampsThe Vietnamese men’s Futsal team was held to a goalless draw with Lebanon in a match on June 30 at the fourth Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG).
In the first eight minutes, the national team faced two consecutive 9m penalties, but goal keeper Dinh Thuan successfully saved the day for Vietnam.
Despite Lebanon’s increasing pressure in the first and second half, Vietnam continued to hold out until the final whistle.
After the match, Vietnam and Lebanon had the same 4 points in group C.
Vietnam will have to wait until July 1 to see if they can make it to the quarter-finals or not, depending on the results of the qualifying round.
According to the rule, the leading teams of seven groups will join the quarter-finals.
***In the women’s futsal event, Vietnam trounced Malaysia 6-1 on June 30.
Captain Ngoc Hoa opened the scoring in the first half.
Malaysia’s equalizer was made by Yasin Norhawa in the 25th minute of the second half.
Then, Vietnam completely dominated the match, with Nguyen Thi Thanh and Pham Thi Hue hammering home another five goals.
With only 6 points after four matches, Vietnam was placed third in group B.
