Stephan Talla27 June 201315 years after the adoption of futsal in Cameroon, its development is impeded by many problems. The remark has been made by the discipline’s league president, Colonel Roger Kuitche at a press conference in Douala.
Mr Kuitche held that Cameroon is witnessing a slow evolution of its futsal unlike other sports disciplines. The major problems according to him include the lack of finances, sponsors and infrastructure as it is being practices in handball stadiums.
Despite these problems, the president expressed hope to see the discipline become the main center of attraction in the nearest future. “It is also the discipline that made Brazil and Argentina the World best teams”, he noted. Futsal arrived in Cameroon in 1988 and gained international recognition in 2011 with the national league being admitted into the World Futsal Association.
From today to Sunday, Yaoundé will be hosting the African championship to take in preparation for the Africa cup of nations billed for August 21-30 in Tunisia.
