Iran futsal squad vanquishes UAE 13-0 in Asia tourney

Press TV – INCHEON, National Iranian men’s futsal team has registered an impressive win against the Emirati squad in its opening match of the group stage of the 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in South Korea.

Iranians outclassed the United Arab Emirates 13-0 in a match played at the Songdo Global University Campus in South Korea’s northwestern city of Incheon and judged by the Japanese referee Yasukazu Nobumoto on Thursday.

Iran’s Mohammad Taheri opened the scoring only three minutes into the match. A few moments later, Taheri seized another perfect chance to put the ball into the back of the net and double Iran’s lead.

Hossein Tayyebi scored the third goal for Iran in the 8th minute. Two minutes after, Mehdi Javid came from behind to score Iran’s fourth goal.

Seyyed Ali Kiaei, Ali Asghar Hassanzadeh, Mehdi Javid, Ghodrat Bahadori, Mohammad Taheri, Mehdi Javadi, Hossein Tayyebi and Ghodrat Bahadori scored Iran’s other goals in the 16th, 20th, 21st, 24th, 25th and 40th minutes of the first half.

National Iranian men’s futsal team is in Group D along with Iraq and the United Arab Emirates.

In another match of the day, national Iranian women’s futsal team edged past Thailand 1-0 in a match played at Incheon’s Dongbu Student Gymnasium and judged by Kuwaiti referee Musab Al-Rashoud.

Fahimeh Zarei earned Iran’s sole goal in the 26th minute.

In their opener on June 26, Iranian sportswomen defeated Malaysia 6-1 in a match played at the Songdo Global University Campus.

National Iranian women’s futsal team is in Group A together with Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
