Steve BaconWednesday, June 26, 2013Chance to try small-sided format at SportsDockEssex Youth Futsal are in the midst of hosting five Futsal Festivals, and they’re looking for under-eight to under-10 teams to come along and try the small-sided format during July, where Futsal will be introduced to players in a relaxed setting, with background music and no pressure to win trophies.
Futsal is FIFA’s official five-a-side game but is played with a slightly heavier, reduced bounce ball and the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, Zidane and Robinho were all brought up playing it.
Futsal helps develop creative, intelligent players with advanced technical ability and, compared to mini-soccer, players get more touches, have more decisions to make, face more one against one situations and have to constantly receive the ball in tight spaces under pressure.
Three of the events have already been held, but further dates on the Sundays of July 7 and 14 can still be attended at the excellent SportsDock facility at the University of East London campus in Docklands, which has four Futsal pitches.
The cost is just £20 per team, per festival and further details can be obtained online at www.gregan.wix.com/futsalessex or by contacting Greg via gregan78@hotmail.com or 07765 401992.
