Colombia have been chosen to host the next FIFA Futsal World Cup in 2016. The decision was taken by the FIFA Executive Committee during a meeting in Mauritius.

The Colombian Football Federation proposed Bogotá, Villavicencio, Bucaramanga, Cúcuta, Ibagué y Neiva as the host cities. The last time the competition was held in South America was in 2008 when hosts Brazil took the title.

During the last World Cup held in Thailand Colombia were the surprise package after finishing 4th behind Italy, Spain and winners Brazil.
