The AFC.comShenzhen Nanling 1-4 Chonburi BluewaveSaturday, 13 April 2013Shah Alam: Thai champions Chonburi Bluewave finished the Group A of the AFC Futsal Club Championship 2013 Zone 2 Qualifiers at the top of the table after defeating Chinese champions Shenzhen Nanling 4-1 on Saturday in the last match of the group played at the Panasonic Sports Complex.
The win means Chonburi Bluewave will play the group runners-up of Group B while Shenzhen Nanling need to take on the winners of Gorup B which will be decided later on Saturday.
The match tipped as the tie between two title favourites of the competition could have gone to either way but the international experience of Chonburi Bluewave, as said by Shenzhen coach Wu Zhuoxi, decided the tie in favour of the Thais.
“There were nothing to separate between the sides apart from the scoreline,” the Chinese coach told www.the-afc.com.
“They were more clinical and they utilized the mistakes we committed while we’re unable to punish them on their mistakes,” he said.
Thailand international star Suphawut Thueanklang broke the deadlock by an expert finish as he put his body to meet a sublime cross from Lertchai Issarasuwipakorn as the ball deceived Shenzhen goalie Liang Yan and landed at the back of the net.
Another Thai international Kritsada Wongkaeo scored two goals to make life comfortable for coach Pazos Mendez who believed that the Chinese side were on top of their game in the first period of the second half.
“I would say we were in control in the first half but the first 10 minutes of the second half we lost our concentration but once it was 3-1 the job was done because we knew that they were tired and their key players were not at their best today,” he said.
“I must say our bench strength was key as we used as many players we would have liked in the match, so the defence never let us down,” he added.

The AFC.comPelindo 2-2 Thai Son NamSaturday, 13 April 2013Shah Alam: Pelindo FC of Indonesia suffered yet another heart breaking exit from the qualifiers of the AFC Futsal Club Championship after failing to hold their lead as Thai Son Nam came twice from behind to secure 2-2 draw at the Panasonic Sports Complex on Saturday.
Needing a win against the Vietnamese, the spirited Indonesians took the lead twice in the match but while playing with a man less because of the red card their player Jailani Ladjanibi got, they failed to hold their nerves and conceded a last-minute equalizer as Thai Son Nam progressed as the Group B leader alongside with runners-up Dural Warriors who had defeated the Indonesian on Thursday.
Thai Son Nam will take on Chinese outfit Shenzhen Nanling while Dural Warriors face in-form Chonburi FC on Monday’s semi-final. The finalists and the third-place playoff winner book tickets for the August finals of the AFC Futsal Club Championship 2013.
Thai Son Nam were the nemesis of Pelindo a year ago when they booked a ticket to the finals in the expenses of the Indonesian by beating them 2-1 in the extra time in the third-place playoff match.
Pelindo’s Haerul Saleh Ohorella gave them a deserved lead in the 8th minute but Thai Son Nam hit back with an equalizer through Nguyen Bao Quan’s superb volley six minutes from time.
However, Ahmad Zulfikar once more provided a lease of life by netting in the lead with just four minutes remaining. The Vietnamese did a big favour to the Australian Dural Warriors by scoring the equalizer through Inaba Kotaro with just 22 seconds remaining.
“It’s a part of the game. We had to defend a slender lead with a man less and Vietnam (Thai Son Nam) pounced on the chance,” dejected Pelindo coach Dadang Iskandar told www.the-afc.com.
“Thai Son Nam are very good side and I am proud that it was one of the best futsal matches of the competition. They have greater stamina and are a speed side but still our boys were in total control in the match when it was five against five,” he fumed.
Iskandar’s counterpart Sergio Gargelli believed that the tricky nature of Indonesia and Vietnam match came into play.
“When the sides of Vietnam and Indonesia are meeting, there is huge drama because the Indonesians are very tricky while we rely on speed,” he said.
“We have to respect the game so we tried our best to win the match knowing that some extra efforts on our defence would have served the purpose.
“I think today’s match was very entertaining and highly tactical. We must give credit to the Indonesian for the efforts they have shown today,” he added.
