AGLA with Italy, Mission Accomplished Mission accomplished. The Italian National Futsal Team beat, in the following order, Finland (5-1), Montenegro (6-0) and Hungary (9-1) and earns qualification to Euro 2014.
A crescendo of performances and results, the three contests played in Bari and Andria, allows Roberto Menichelli's guys to take a ticket for the finals in Belgium.
In this Azzurri the AGLA guys shined and the five REPRESENTATIVES selected by the Italian coach were as follows. The goalkeeper STEFANO MAMMARELLA, assurance between the posts and conceded just two goals, less than 1 per game, the defender MARCO ERCOLESSI, starter in the first two games, HUMBERTO HONORIO, scorer of the first goals against Finland and Hungary, bomber RODOLFO FORTINO, who broke the deadlock against Montenegro and twice hit the back of the Hungarian's net and finally the second goalkeeper, DAVIDE PUTANO.
RODOLFO FORTINO spoke with www.divisionecalcioa5.it after the victory against Montenegro "Against Finland I did not score but the three points and Italy's qualification comes before personal achievement. We knew that on paper these games are not difficult but it happens on court and they are very strong physically. It was a matter of time to find the goal, we were aware of that and it happened. The team spirit is the most valuable attribute of this squad; who goes on, who comes off, who plays thirty minutes, whoever plays always gives their maximum and sacrifices themselves for their teammate."
The results of Group 1 of the qualifiers: Hungary-Montenegro 4-3, Italy-Finland 5-1; Hungary-Finland 5-2; Italy-Montenegro 6-0; Montenegro-Finland 1-3; Italy-Hungary 9-1.
Final Table: ITALY 9 points, Hungary 6, Finland 3, Montenegro 0.
Those qualified for Belgium 2014 are: Belgium (hosts), Italy, Azerbaijan, Russia, Spain (holders), Portugal, Czech Republic, Slovenia.
Those that made the playoffs for the final four places are Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovakia (as best third place), Romania, Croatia, Serbia, Netherlands and Ukraine. (The draw for the playoffs will take place on 3rd July.
