Independents Football Club-1 and Shirley's FC secured the division titles in the 2012 NMIFA Women's Futsal Fall League after notching separate wins last week at the TSL Sports Complex.

IFC-1 took the Division B championship after edging MP United-1, 1-0, last Wednesday, off Ferleen Esmundo's goal in the second half. IFC-1 now holds a 10-2-1 win-draw-loss record for 32 points, and was scheduled to close out its fall season campaign last night when it faced sister team IFC-2.

Regardless of the results of its final match, IFC-1 will remain in the No. 1 spot, as its closest pursuer, Matansa FC has only 28 points. Matansa owns a 9-1-3 card and could only get as much as 31 points if it wins in last game tomorrow against Paire.

In Division A, Shirley's kept its perfect record (7-0) after defeating Paire FC (1-0-4), 4-2, last Friday. Shirley's is ahead by four wins against IFC and MP United, which holds similar 3-0-4, and will go for a sweep tomorrow when it duels MP United at 7:30pm.

Shirley's drew goals from four different players to beat Paire. Jhaneeka Atalig converted first for Shirley's at the 13th minute, while Jeralyn Castillo scored, too four minutes later. After being cold in the first half, Paire finally made it to the board and even tied the match, 2-all, with Connie Camacho scoring just two minutes into the second frame and Natalie Hill drilling the equalizer five minutes later.

However, Shirley's would not be denied, as Charlene Lizardo answered with the go-ahead goal in the 29th and Jeraldine Castillo nailed the insurance in the 38th minute.

Meanwhile, four other games were completed in the league's Wednesday and Friday schedules.

WEDNESDAY

IFC-2 7, MPU-2 0
In the second match in Division B, IFC-2 showed no mercy to MPU-2.

Yvonne Indalecio, Vanessa Gramlich, Mary Joyce Magsongsong, Mel Borja, and Coquina Teregeyo scored one goal apiece in IFC-2's lopsided win. IFC-2 was also credited with a goal off MPU-2's error to improve to a 2-2-9 record for seventh place in the eight-team field. MPU-2 is at the bottom of the team standings with its dismal 0-0-13 card.

Shirley's 7, Paire 6
Shirley's (7-4-2) moved up from fourth to third place after slipping past Paire (5-3-5).
Shirley's held its ground on defense in the last 10 minutes of play to thwart Paire's comeback bid.

Behind 3-7, Paire threatened Shirley's after scoring three straight goals in less than one minute. Kate Campbell made the first one at the 39:20 mark, while Clarissa Mobel converted the second one at 39:50 and then just five seconds later Paire was only down by one after Guinevere Borja got her fourth goal in the game.

However, Shirley's recovered from the defensive lapses and silenced Paire in the remaining minutes of the closely fought match.

FRIDAY

Matansa 3, Tan Holdings 1
In the lone Division B game last Friday, Bernadette Horey recorded a hat-trick to lift Matansa to victory over Tan Holdings.

Horey's first goal came in the seventh minute and three minutes later, she earned her second one for Matansa's 2-0 lead. Krizel Tuazon's goal in the 12th minute moved Tan Holdings (3-4-6) within one at halftime, however that was the closest it could get, while Horey completed the hat-trick with another goal just two minutes into the second half.

MP United 2, IFC 1
In the other Division A match last weekend, MP United outclassed IFC.

A penalty kick from Kyla Ito with less than five minutes left in the match lifted MP United past IFC.

Negahr Rastguiy nailed the other goal for MP United three minutes before the first half buzzer sounded. Lindsay Davis then tied the match in the second half with his goal in the 40th before Ito came to MP United's rescue.
