Bangkok PostBMA faces probe over Futsal arena3/12/2012The Pheu Thai Party on Monday formally asked the Department of Special Investigation (DSI)to investigate whether there were irregularities in the construction of the Bangkok Futsal Arena by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.
The letter requesting the inquiry was filed by Pheu Thai deputy spokesman Jirayu Huangsap, .
It stated the hiring of EMC Plc by the BMA and the expenditure of a budget of 1,239 million baht by Bangkok Governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra and his deputy Thirachon Manomaipiboon might have violated the price collusion law and BMA's hire and purchase regulations.
Pol Lt-Col Anurak Rojananirankij, commander of the DSI's criminal litigation office, received the letter from Mr Jirayu.
If the complaint against the BMA is found to have grounds, the DSI would accept it for further investigation, he said.
The deadline for completion of the Bangkok Futsal Arena was brought forward and it was intended for use during the 2012 Futsal World Cup in Bangkok last month.
However, it failed to meet the advanced deadline and Fifa decided to not use it, deeming it was still unsafe because all facilities were not completed on time.
