SERIAN: A futsal coaching clinic will be organised in the Serian parliamentary constituency with the event to be held at Kampung Tebakang at 8am and Serian Indoor Stadium at 2.00pm on Dec 4.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Serian Close futsal championship on Sunday afternoon, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Datuk Richard Riot Jaem revealed that the coaching clinic, the first of its kind in the state will be organised by Sarawak Futsal Association in collaboration with Australia Futsal Association based in Perth.

He added that participation would be opened to U-16 futsal enthusiasts on first come first basis today at the deputy minister’s public counter here.

“It is my wish that one day, a futsal player from Serian will represent the state and country in futsal tournaments as I have observed in today’s competitions that there are some potential talents among the youth apart from those competing in the recent Inter-Parliament Futsal Championship in Kuala Lumpur.
I am sure that with proper coaching, these young players could excel in the sport,” he said.

Riot noted that it is a fact that coaches are the heart of every sports, and their roles are critical to how sports functions at all levels and the government has encouraged greater recognition of the importance of coaches.

“The recognition that coaches are role models and mentors needs to be enhanced because in many ways Malaysia’s future sporting success is up to our coaches and training officials,” he expressed.

Meanwhile in last Sunday’s futsal final, X-Movent defeated Gabungan Futbal FC 2-1 to lift the title for the second consecutive time.
Nazrig Mat Ali was the toast of X-Movent team when he scored the winning goal in the dying minutes of the second half.

In the first half, X-Movent’s equaliser was scored by Abang Marzuki Abang Rabaee, cancelling the goal scored by Gabungan Futbal’s Vincent Sagin.
The two-day event saw 27 teams taking part in the competition organised by Serian Municipal Council Social and Recreational Club (Kesdar), with the support of Serian parliament constituency office.

On another note, Riot revealed that Serian will have another four more futsal courts to be built next year to add to the eight existing courts which he said would be the most number of futsal courts being built in a parliamentary constituency in the Malaysia.
He also donated cash RM5000 to the Kesdar to carry out its activities.
