Bangkok PostNACC probe sought into Futsal Arena14/11/2012A Pheu Thai MP for Bangkok on Wednesday filed a petition with the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) asking that it investigate Bangkok Governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra and one of his deputies for malfeasance over the delay in the completion of the Bangkok Futsal Arena.
The petition was received by NACC assistant secretary-general Witthaya Arkompitak.
Jirayu Huangsap, the petitioner, said MR Sukhumbhand, deputy Bangkok governor Theerachon Manomaipiboon and some city officials might have been involved in irregularities in hiring a private company to build the arena and the spending of the budget allocated for the construction.
The 12,000-seat Bangkok Futsal Arena in Nong Chok was intended to be the main venue for the 2012 Futsal World Cup being held from Nov 1-18.
But the construction was not completed in time for the tournament, leading to Fifa's decision to not use it at all.
