Lester Mekan BahaNovember 6, 2012, TuesdayBAU: Mas Gading parliamentary constituency is sending its women’s and men’s futsal team to compete in 1Youth 1Malaysia Futsal Championship to be held at KBSM Futsal Court Putrajaya starting from Nov 14 to 19.
Speaking to The Borneo Post, Mas Gading MP Datuk Tiki Lafe said that the teams, Diva Apar and Semporna Jaya United, would be among 440 men’s and women’s parliamentary constituencies’ teams from throughout the nation vying for the inaugural titles.
He added that the event is the government’s continuous effort to get youths throughout the country to compete and fostering closer rapport among themselves and integrate in order to achieve the objectives of 1Malaysia.
Dr Tiki continues to say that it would be an opportunity for their member of parliament to get to know them and also for them to know their leaders.
Meanwhile Mas Gading teams’ manager-coach Gabrin Paim said that the teams comprised players from throughout the constituency had been undergoing centralised training to prepare for the prestigious event.
Diva Apar players are Rosiahna Jetap,Christin Ela Ahon, Suria Dick, Cammela Miethiel Endy, Seffenia Steffelyn, Shirley Emie, Benedict Eileen and Metinda Nutin while the Semporna Jaya United would be represented by Elvin Beleng, Calvin Harryson Sulau, Jimmy Chawong, Pera Indi, Khu Boon Kai, Sahran Puzan, Albin Lensen and Sabian Puzan.
On an another note, Dr Tiki also disclosed that the Mas Gading’s sports activities in the pipeline would be its football league, futsal tournament and motocross championship, to be held starting November 16.
He also distributed RM12,000 cash to support Mas Gading’s futsal teams in the tournament.
Overall, Sarawak will be represented by 122 men’s and women’s teams from the state’s 61 parliamentary constituencies.
