Cowra GuardianFoursome off to futsal state titles2/11/2012Futsal, or indoor soccer as some people like to call it, is a fast and furious cousin of the outdoor sport.
It calls for lung-bursting stamina and an impeccable first touch.
There is no place for the underhit stray pass in this game.
The tackles and the shirt tugging are just as fierce.
This coming weekend the State Titles are being held in Penrith.
Four local boys from the Under 15s Lachlan Lions outfit have been selected in the Western Squad, which will compete against the might of the Metro teams this weekend - Walker Carter and Bede Leyland from Cowra; Callum Spoor and Connor McGregor from Young.
All four have played together in District sides for a few years now and have been successful on the Regional and State stage in the past.
The Western team have trained hard at Orange PCYC every Sunday for the past month, putting in the hard yards, sweat and occasionally blood for the task at hand.
The Cowra and District Soccer Club and Young Lions Soccer wish all four boys well next week.
We look forward to seeing some of the action in the local media after they return.
