Laos' first futsal course underway

Wednesday, 10 October 2012

Vientiane: The first AFC Futsal Level 1 Coaching Course in Laos is currently underway in Vientiane that is set to be an excellent platform for futsal development in the ASEAN nation.

Kasem Inthara, the Vice President of the National Olympic Committee, and Viengsavanh Sengchanh, the Laos Football Federation Futsal Chairman, opened the course which is instructed by Chiew Chun Yong.

AFC Head of Futsal Competitions and Development Ali Targholizade also attended the opening of the course which is being attended by 14 participants.

Chiew spelt out the course structure and pathway for the participating coaches: “This course consists of theory and practical sessions followed by exams on the final day, and is open to coaches who are involved in a coaching career.

“The participants will be monitored closely by AFC instructors before they can be chosen to attend the AFC Futsal Level 2 Coaching Courses in the future.”

The course is one of the results of the Laos Football Federation working closely with AFC to develop more potential futsal coaches which in turn will produce more talented futsal players in near future.

The course is also timely in that Laos will take part in next year’s SEA Games in Myanmar in the men’s and women’s categories and will set up a properly structured national futsal league.
