Estes Park Trail GazetteEstes Valley Rec. department youth futsal soccer and youth volleyball registration open17/10/2012Across the nation children are playing futsal. Futsal is a quick paced soccer game, played five on a side, and on an indoor gym. It teaches balance, motor ability, agility and co-ordination, ball mastery, accurate and quick passing and receiving, perception insight and awareness. Games will be played on Saturday mornings at the middle dchool gymnasium. Participants will receive a team t-shirt. Athletic or indoor soccer shoes required. Shinguards are highly recommended. Each team needs one parent coach.
Youth instructional volleyball is a co-ed program for 4th graders. It is one day a week for 1.5 hours. Participants will learn basic volleyball rules and skills, such as passing, serving, setting, hitting, and blocking, in a fun atmosphere with lots of skill set based games and scrimmages.
Registration is now open for youth futsal and youth volleyball through the Estes Valley Recreation and Park District until Friday, Oct. 26. Futsal is available for boys and girls in grades K-1st, 2nd, 4th, and 6th. Teams will play games on Saturday mornings starting Nov. 3 through Dec. 8. There is no futsal on Saturday, Nov. 24, due to Thanksgiving. Youth volleyball is available for boys and girls in grades 4. Youth volleyball is on Mondays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. starting Nov. 5 through Dec. 3.
The EVRPD is also in need of volunteer coaches for futsal to help supervise a team during their game. The EVRPD relies heavily on the support of parents and young adults to help coach. They would not be able to run successful youth programs without the commitment and willingness from our volunteers who have a desire to work in a positive atmosphere with children. If you coach and your child is a participant, your child's registration will be waived. If you are interested in coaching or for more information about our programs, please contact Cheryl Sarnwick; recreation supervisor, at 586-8191 ext 3 or email cheryl@evrpd.com.
You may register on-line at evrpd.com and pay on-line via PayPal using a credit card or debit card only, or you may drop-in to the EVRPD Administrative Office to fill out a registration form and pay using cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, or American Express. Through Friday, Oct. 26, registration fees are $33/in-district and $44/non-district. After Friday, Oct. 26, registration will be taken on a "space-available" basis only.
