Don BurgessWEDNESDAY, OCT. 3: Dandy Town Hornets proved to be a scoring machine in the Youth Futsal Cup last Saturday at Dellwood Middle School.
In the Under-14 semi-finals, Town rolled over Hamilton Parish Hot Peppers 6-0 to set up a final against North Village Rams. The Rams slipped past Dellwood in the other semi-final via a thrilling penalty shoot-out. The two sides were tied 1-1 after regulation before Village prevailed 4-3 on penalties.
Town’s goal scoring prowess did not slow down in the final as the beat Village 6-2. Akeem Johnson of Dandy Town was the Most Valuable Player.
Town was not as fortunate in the Under-12s.
In the semi-final against Footy Force, the Hornets were blanked 6-0. The other semi-saw Skills N Drillz trounce Hamilton Parish 8 to 2. A very competitive final saw Footy Force manage a 4 to 2 triumph over Skills N Drillz with Force’s Diego Richardson taking the Under-12 MVP award.
In the Under-10s, Town won their semi0final against the Hot Peppers 1-0 to gave Trojans, who beat stablemates SCC 3-1.
Trojans then beat Dandy Town 5-3 in a highly entertaining affair with Zaire Smith of Trojans claiming the MVP award.
