Futsal draw puts Costa Rica with host Thais

BANGKOK, Thailand - CONCACAF champion Costa Rica was placed with host Thailand, Ukraine and Paraguay for the first round of the Futsal World Cup at Friday's draw for the seventh edition of the tournament.

Fellow CONCACAF side Guatemala was joined with Russia, the Solomon Islands and Colombia; Panama was put in with Spain, Iran and Morcco; while Mexico was drawn with Argentina, Italy and Australia for the November 1-18 event.

The 24 qualified countries were divided into six, four-team groups. The top two in each will advance to the second round along with four third-place teams.

This will be a third trip to the Futsal World Cup for both Costa Rica and Guatemala, with neither having advanced past the first round. Panama and Mexico will be making their debut appearances at the quadrennial championship.
