Red Bull to hold futsal tournament

KUCHING: Red Bull Malaysia is sponsoring a futsal tournament to be held at the Sports Arena at Jalan Wan Alwi here on Sept 9.
The champion team in the Men’s category will bring home a cash prize of RM2,500 plus a trophy and medals.

The first runner-up and second runner-up teams will get a cash prize of RM1,500 and RM1,000 respectively along with a trophy for each team and medals.

Quarter-finalists will get Red Bull products worth RM250 per team. In the Ladies category, the champion team will get a cash prize of RM1,000 plus a trophy and medals while the first and second runner-up teams will get a cash prize of RM750 and RM500 respectively along with a trophy for each team and medals.

The top four teams in the Men’s category will represent the state in the grand finals in Kuala Lumpur in November.

The champion team of the grand finals will take home a cash prize of RM15,000 and will represent the country in the Tri Nations tournament competing with teams from Singapore and Brunei.

Closing date is Sept 3 and registration fee is RM150 per team. Entry is open to Malaysians aged 16 to 40 and each team must have a minimum of seven players and a maximum of 10 players. They can include one state or national, former state or former national player in their team.

However, a player can only play for one team and cannot represent any other teams.

Meanwhile, according to a Red Bull representative, the event promises to be an exciting one and other activities are being planned for the day of the tournament including a mini carnival with food and drink stalls set up.
